Slowly but surely
you’re being carried away
drifting further out
on these strong currents of change
and i can’t hold back
the tide nor the tears
as i get buffeted closer
toward the rocks & the cliffs
and this process rolls on
in front of my eyes
my head yields gracefully
but my heart slowly dies
everything i touch smell and see
hauntingly echoes
and serves to remind me
of a song on the radio
colours you used to wear
perfume in a restaurant
your smile your hair
everything is poignant
associations of symbol and irony
and its been so long
i that sings this dribble
knows love’s cost
for i gave all my heart
and i lost.
